The Derby County Community Partnership and Fairtrade City Derby Group, in conjunction with Derby County, staged a series of activities at the Burnley game at Pride Park Stadium on Saturday 11 March 2006.

The activities were aimed at promoting fairtrade during Fairtrade Fortnight which ran from 6-19 March.

Fairtrade Bibs

Specially commissioned training bibs displaying the fairtrade logo were worn by the ball boys. The bibs were produced by Im-Press Promotions Derby, sponsored by the Co-op Midlands and obtained by the DCCP.

Before the match, Derby defender Michael Johnson presented a fairtrade football, autographed by Derby players, to our competition winner, Amanda Briggs from Ilkeston. The DCCP's Andy Smith was on hand to congratulate Amanda.

Volunteers from Oxfam paraded around the pitch at half-time carrying banners displaying the fairtrade message and announcements were made over the stadium's public address system and during the club's commentary service over the internet.

Half-time Entertainment

Half-time EntertainmentDerby County's club mascot, Rammie, used fairtrade footballs during his half-time shooutout competition and the children participating wore a further set of the bibs.

Posters about fairtrade were also displayed at most of the entrances to the stadium and an article was published in the match programme.
