DERBY COUNTY COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP
September 2003

OPPORTUNITY FOR SUPPORTERS TO HELP AS DERBY COUNTY HONOURS ITS CHARTER PROMISE TO FANS AND THE COMMUNITY

At the beginning of the season the Club's Charter was published in the form of three promises to all its supporters.

At the same time, news was given to supporters of the formation of the Derby County Community Partnership (DCCP), a group of volunteers from a variety of organisations including club employees, associates, and supporters willing to undertake a voluntary role in closing the gap between the Club and its Community.

In its Charter this season, Derby County Football Club promised to work together with a Community Partnership group whose remit would be to ensure that the relationship between the Club and its Community is a two way street, and to support the development of practical projects to improve Community collaboration and mutual support.

The formation of the DCCP group will provide a voluntary link between DCFC and a network of local organisations and supporters' groups. These will include schools, hospitals, places of worship, businesses, local councils, and arts and leisure organisations as well as supporters' organisations.

The DCCP will also include representatives from the existing Football in the Community and Playing for Success initiatives, as well as Derby County employees.

Two practical projects will kick-start the Community Programme involving schools this season:

  1. Painting a mural in the concourse of the Community Stand
  2. A Schools' Conference to discuss issues of importance to young people and how
these might be supported by DCFC.

The DCCP also aims to organise feedback opportunities for supporters to monitor the effectiveness of the club's commitment to the Community, and to address any concerns by ensuring:-

  - that the senior management and directors at the Club respond to individual fans'
      concerns, and
  - that the senior management and directors at the Club arrange consultation
meetings with groups of supporters to discuss and address matters of concern.
